Flirting can be an exciting and nerve-racking experience all wrapped into one. It`s always nice to know when someone is flirting with you, but it can often be difficult to tell if the person across from you is actually interested or just being polite. Thankfully, there are certain signs to pay attention to that can help you determine if a guy is flirting with you or not.
It`s no secret that eye contact plays a major role in flirting, and it`s one of the most reliable ways to tell if someone is interested in you. If a guy is making direct, consistent eye contact with you and maintaining it for more than just a few seconds, then chances are he`s trying to get your attention. Pay attention, however, to the context of the conversation. If the conversation is friendly but never moves beyond the surface level, then he might only be trying to be polite.
Smiles can often be another good indicator of a guy`s interest level. If he is smiling often and genuinely when you`re together, then chances are he`s into you. Additionally, pay attention to his lips. If he is licking them or biting his bottom lip, then he`s likely trying to flirt with you. If his lips are pursing together or he`s frowning, then it`s likely a sign that he`s not feeling the same way.
With body language, keep an eye out for any subtle signals he might be sending your way. Is he leaning in towards you when the two of you are talking? Has he started playing with his clothing or his hair? Has he started touching himself in any way, such as running his hand down his arm or adjusting his shirt? Is it just once in a while to check-in or is he texting you throughout the day? If it`s the latter, then chances are he`s trying to make more of a connection with you.
If you think the guy you`re interested in may be flirting with you, then you could try to take things a step further by flirting back. See how he reacts to your comments and response and judge from there if he is actually interested or not. If he responds positively and seems excited when you`re flirting with him, then you can be pretty sure that he`s into you. On the other hand, if he doesn`t seem too interested or draw back quickly, then it`s likely that he`s not feeling the same way.
At the end of the day, it`s important to remember that flirting isn`t always a guarantee that someone is interested in you. It could very well be that this guy is simply trying to be friendly or that he`s just looking for casual conversation. Regardless, wish him well and follow your own intuition—if you`re still unsure, then trust your gut.
